Under Ohio law, we cannot provide makeup or hair styling services for most sessions. These services are regulated and must be performed by a licensed cosmetologist at an approved facility.
If you choose to have professional hair and makeup for your session, it is the client’s responsibility to book and coordinate those services and arrive at the studio camera-ready.
Boudoir and Fine Art sessions do not include a makeup artist, hair stylist, or set stylist unless arranged separately. If you have any skin blemishes, leave them alone—trying to correct them beforehand often makes post-production more difficult and may draw attention to the area in final images.
For hair, we recommend having it done two to three days before the session unless your shoot includes professional hair and makeup. Avoid washing your hair the day before your shoot, as freshly washed hair can be harder to manage and may not hold shape well under lighting.
If you use spray tans, apply them three to four days before your session and avoid additional tanning right before the shoot. For nails (hands and feet), clear or French manicures work best. Glue-on nails are acceptable, but we do not recommend press-on nails, as they may come loose during wardrobe changes or under certain lighting setups.
For sessions involving partial or full nudity, please arrive fully groomed to reduce distractions that cannot be edited out in post-production. Avoid tight-fitting clothing or undergarments before your session, especially if you will be doing implied, topless, or nude images. Marks left by clothing and elastic are extremely difficult to remove completely and can affect the naturalness of the final images.
Outfit selection will be part of the creative process. This may range from swimwear to formal wear, lingerie, or minimal accessories, depending on the project. Solid colors tend to work best and provide the most flexibility across different lighting setups.
Try to get a good night’s sleep and limit or eliminate alcohol, salt, and excess liquids the night before to reduce redness, bloating, and bloodshot eyes. Staying hydrated in the days leading up to your session also helps skin look healthier on camera.
We understand that these sessions can feel intimidating. Our goal is to guide you through posing, expression, and pacing so you can stay relaxed and focused on the experience while we focus on creating the images.
Most couples' sessions will involve a single outfit and will not include a makeup artist, hair stylist, or set stylist. If you have any skin blemishes, leave them alone—attempting to fix them beforehand often makes retouching more difficult and may draw attention to the area.
When choosing outfits, solid colors tend to work best and give the most flexibility during the shoot. Coordinating tones usually works better than wearing identical outfits. Avoid busy patterns, logos, or highly reflective fabrics.

During the session, we’ll guide you through posing and interaction so you don’t need to worry about what to do with your hands or how to stand. Focus on staying relaxed and connected with each other, and we’ll take care of the rest.
